Boston Collegiate Charter School

$25,550 to allow the school to purchase literacy intervention reading systems for all grades that will be available to all students who are learning remotely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Founded in 1998, BCCS serves a diverse student body of 700 students from Boston in grades five through 12 and maintains a waitlist of over 1,700 students. Its mission is to prepare each student for college by providing high quality differentiated instruction to all students. All BCCS students receive challenging college-preparatory and career exploration programming, which begins in fifth grade and extends beyond graduation to include robust alumni support.

Since 1963, A Better Chance has been opening the door to educational opportunities for thousands of young people of color in this nation. Its mission is to increase the number of well-educated young people of color who are capable of assuming positions of responsibility and leadership in American society.

$15,000 to support Works & Process underwriting of a new musical composition, titled “Third Bird,” for the 2020/21 season.

Founded in 1984 Works & Process (“W&P”) has been a pioneer in commissioning, developing and presenting performing arts programming in a museum setting. The artistic programs are designed to illuminate the creative process of artists by blending in-process performance highlights and world premieres with unique discussions with the artists about the creation and intention of a new work.

The Maine Children’s Alliance (MCA) is a public policy, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Maine children, youth and families through research, collaboration and advocacy. For 25 years, MCA has promoted best policies and practices to make sure all Maine children have the resources and opportunity to reach their full potential from birth to adulthood. Activities include collecting and analyzing state data, partnering with organizations and coalitions, and promoting data-driven policy decisions. MCA works to inform, empower, and inspire parents and providers, practitioners and organizations, and advocates and policy makers to make Maine a better place to be a kid.

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Food for Health Program

To support the hospital’s Food for Health Program which provides fresh food delivery to high risk patients who are food insecure during the COVID pandemic.

Founded in 1972, Bowdoin Street Health Center (BSHC), is BIDMC’s flagship community health center, and has been a cornerstone of Dorchester’s Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhood for more than 40 years. At the health center, BIDMC physicians and medical staff provide critical pediatric and adult primary care, with a specialization in chronic disease management, integrated behavioral health, and maternal care. In order to help meet the increasing hunger insecurity in the Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhood during the COVID-19 pandemic, BSHC is committed to providing increased food access for families.

Historic Hudson was created in 1996 to advocate for the preservation and cultural heritage of the historic architecture of the city of Hudson, NY. Historic Hudson has rescued and designated historic landmarks in the city and is now in the process of renovating and enhancing 100 underutilized acres of the 162-acre NYS Hudson Correctional Facility for a much needed public access park.

The Council of Urban Professionals’ (CUP) mission is to inspire, elevate, and empower the next generation of diverse business and civic leaders. Now in its 13th year, CUP supports the career progression of professional women and people of color in New York and Los Angeles by: 1) delivering compelling skill-building programs focused on accelerating careers and enhancing visibility, and 2) curating groups of top diverse professionals for impactful conversations and networking opportunities that result in community building, thought leadership, business development and a platform for recognizing diverse talent and inspiring service. 

Academy of the Pacific Rim

The Academy of the Pacific Rim (APR) is a charter public school serving 540 students in grades 5-12 in Hyde Park, a neighborhood in Boston. Its mission is to “empower students from all racial and ethnic backgrounds to achieve their full intellectual and social potential.” This vision is accomplished by holding students to high expectations and standards academically and ensuring that all students have the supports and opportunities to develop socially and emotionally. APR programs move students along a path that consistently leads to agency and further education.

Apollo Theater
