The October meeting concluded another busy and exciting calendar year for the Ellis L. Phillips Foundation. In the previous autumn, the Foundation welcomed two new Board members, Paula Edgar and Spencer Blasdale. We awarded grants this year to a broad range of innovative programs, both from newly created organizations as well as time-tested organizations creating new programs to address today’s most pressing issues. Grants included support to the Apollo Theater’s Teen Takeover, buildOn, the Hudson Opera House, MIT’s List Visual Arts Center, MOUSE, the Friends of Matènwa, the Bed-Stuy Parents’ Committee, the Boston Day and Evening Academy, Historic Hudson, Legal Outreach, and the Resonant Bodies Festival. These grants reflect the breadth and depth of the Foundation Board’s interest in continuing support of the arts, education, and historic preservation; with the MOUSE grant, we expand our horizon into technological innovation and its many applications. We are also pleased to bring you our newly redesigned website, and we hope you find it both useful and informative.
